9-11 in Remembrance
To honor those who died in the terror attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, Dave Jackson and his daughter, Kristen Vilone, ran from Butler to Evans City on Friday morning, stopping for a moment of silence at the times each plane crashed 14 years ago.
“We just can't forget stuff like this,” said the Butler Township resident, who often runs from Butler to Evans City to train for marathons. He always carries a four-foot flag on his runs.
Many parents and children waved from bus stops, and several passers-by honked as they ran Friday morning.
Friday evening veterans placed American flags on the helmets of Seneca Valley High School football players before Seneca's game against Fox Chapel. Also on Friday the Cranberry Township Volunteer Fire Company displayed a large American flag at its station on Route 19.
