Pictured is a stretch of bad sidewalk in front of Olsen Engineering at 126 S. Main St. in Butler. Business owners are responsible for maintaining sidewalks and curbs in front of their properties. Last summer the city sent about a dozen notification of violation letters to downtown businesses informing them the deteriorated sidewalks in front of their properties are not up to code. While many of the businesses responded by repairing the sidewalks, others have not.
