Home Depot employees fix late manager's house

Randy Carpenter, left, and Bud Booth, both Home Depot workers from Washington County, make improvements Saturday to the home of Amy Waltz, whose late husband was the Home Depot store manager in Butler Township. Ray Waltz, 44, died last month of a brain aneurysm.

SLIPPERY ROCK TWP, Lawrence County — Several dozen employees from regional Home Depot stores made improvements to the home of Amy Waltz, whose late husband was the Home Depot store manager in Butler Township.

Ray Waltz, 44, died last month of a brain aneurysm. He was the manager of the township store for three months before his death.

More than 70 employees from stores across Western Pennsylvania went to the house on Patrick Drive on Friday and Saturday to make repairs and improvements.

“Ray had started a lot of projects around the house,” said Phil Rogers of Home Depot. “We wanted to get out and finish those for his wife and child.”

Waltz had two adult children and 3-year-old daughter, Olivia.

Rogers said a few of the repairs included fixing the roof, siding, porch, deck, fencing and walkway.

“We take care of our people,” Rogers said.

Workers came from as far away as Bridgeport, W.Va., and Altoona.
