Business manager returns

Budget concerns led to KC leave

KARNS CITY — Karns City School District’s business manager was back to work as of last week.

Linnea Lincoln, who was hired in January 2014, was placed on paid administrative leave on May 12 because of budgetary concerns.

“Mrs. Lincoln has returned to work as of August 17th and has resumed all of the duties of the role,” said Eric Ritzert, superintendent, in an e-mailed statement sent Tuesday.

Lincoln was placed on paid administrative leave because administrators and school board members had concerns about a preliminary budget she presented in the spring. She had estimated a $23.8 million budget for the 2015-16 school year, which was less than the $25.7 million 2014-15 school year budget. An auditor reviewed the proposed budget to check its accuracy.

Ritzert could not be immediately reached for further comment, but had said previously he did not suspect intentional wrongdoing.
