Warrant issued for suspect

Man allegedly stole money from Domino's

An arrest warrant has been issued for a former employee of the Domino’s in Butler who allegedly stole more than $1,000 from the pizza shop’s safe, authorities said.

Butler police suspect 30-year-old Glenn L. Shook in committing the June break-in. They said he still had a key to get into the shop and knew the keypad’s personal identification number to disable the security alarm.

He also allegedly had the access code to open the safe.

Coincidentally, according to court documents, Shook had lost his job at the pizza shop because of money that turned up missing while he was working there.

District Judge Pete Shaffer last week issued an arrest warrant for the defendant, who has no known address, on a felony charge of burglary and a misdemeanor charge of theft.

While police are looking for Shook, they continue to seek his unknown accomplice in the same crime that appeared to be an inside job from the start of the investigation.

Two employees at the Domino’s on South Main Street discovered the break-in June 16 when they showed up for work that morning.

The door was unlocked but the alarm system was on. There was no forced entry, police said.

The money — $1,017 — was gone from the safe. But there was no sign the safe was forced open either.

The employees told investigators that to open the safe, a code must be entered. Ten minutes later, documents said, the code must again be entered before the safe will open.

Police on June 19 reviewed the shop’s surveillance video that captured the crime. The footage showed two men — each wearing a sweat shirt with the hood up and closed around his face — enter the store.

The man believed to be Shook is seen using a key and punching in the alarm system code to get inside undetected. That same man, police said, moments later opens the lock to the safe, again using the access code.

As he waits to break into the safe, documents said, the other man opens the cash register and stuffs an unspecified amount of currency into his pockets.

The video eventually showed the defendant relocking the safe.

A short time later, both suspects back away from the counter toward the surveillance camera in an effort to keep their faces hidden, documents said,

The defendant rearmed the security system before both men left the shop, police said.

The manager, who was familiar with Shook having previously worked with him, told investigators he recognized the defendant as one the crooks, based on his posture and the sneakers he wore.

Shook was fired May 25 because of money that continually turned up missing from the store’s cash drawer, documents said. That problem stopped, the manager advised police, after the defendant’s termination.
