Ford City practice joins BMH staff

FORD CITY — Dr. William McCann and Amy Lhote, a certified registered nurse practitioner, will join the Butler Health System medical staff on Aug. 1.

The practice will continue to see patients at its Ford City location, 432 3rd Ave.

The partnership will provide those patients access to specialized physicians in cardiology and neurosurgery among others at Butler Memorial.

McCann, an osteopathic doctor, said, “Due to changes in the health care environment, we are convinced that a partnership with Butler Health System is good for our practice and our patients.”

Woman honored as fraud fighter

HARRISBURG — Rhea Sciarrino of Mars was given the 2015 Fraud Fighter Award by the Pennsylvania Insurance Fraud Prevention Authority and the Pennsylvania Chapters of the International Association of Special Investigation Units.

Sciarrino was named Investigator of the Year. She has worked with Progressive since November 2000, and is the sole SIU investigator for Western Pennsylvania, doing investigations from her Wexford office. Her investigations include auto, property, medical, providers and commercial.

The award was presented at the state Insurance Fraud Conference in Hershey.

The authority helps law enforcement fight insurance fraud.

The special investigation units promote the efforts of law enforcement and insurance industry fraud investigation professionals.

Hanger 4.7.3 hires new executive chef

PENN TWP — Hangar 4.7.3. restaurant at the Butler County Airport has hired Anthony Salvia as executive chef, joining general manager Kim Abels Lowrey and bar manager Lindsay Haley.

The restaurant and culinary direction was previously managed by Chef Bill Atkinson, who has left the management team.

Salvia was born and raised in Erie, and he has worked in the hospitality industry since his teenage years.

He graduated with honors from Le Cordon Bleu in Pittsburgh, the Pennsylvania Culinary Institute, and after graduation he had the sous chef position at the Carlton restaurant in Pittsburgh.

Then he became the executive chef at the Hilton Garden Inn in Cranberry Township and then the head chef at The Sewickley Hotel in Sewickley.
