SLIPPERY ROCK — The Slippery Rock Volunteer Fire Company and Rescue Team will hold an open house June 20 marking the first phase completion of its new building.

The event will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 162 Elm St.

The new 5,300-square-foot building is phase one of the $3.5 million project that began construction last year. It will serve as the base for day-to-day operations as well as holding ambulances and sleeping quarters for EMS workers.

The company also is planning several fish and chicken dinner fundraisers this year to raise money for phases two and three.

Starting July 3, the fundraisers will be from 4 to 7 p.m. at 162 Elm St. on the first Friday of each month.
