Cody Addison Nowack
Gunshot fired near houses

SAXONBURG — A borough man was arrested Tuesday night after shooting near houses.

Cody Addison Nowack, 26, of Horne Avenue is being charged with terroristic threats, simple assault, discharging a firearm into occupied structure and harassment.

Shortly before 10 p.m., borough police officers were dispatched to the area of 150 Horne Ave. after reports of a gunshot followed by screaming.

Upon arrival, officers saw a female walking down the road and Nowack hiding behind a sign. Officers ordered both individuals to show their hands and step onto the road. The woman was crying and later found to be the victim of domestic violence.

Nowack was arrested after stating that he had fired a shot from his .40 caliber Smith & Wesson pistol in the general area of some houses. The pistol was recovered hidden nearby.

The woman said that she and Nowack had been arguing about their relationship and that he repeatedly held the gun to his head and threatened to shoot himself in front of her.

The woman also said that Nowack repeatedly blocked their apartment door when she tried to leave and at those times would place the pistol against his head. She stated that she finally was able to get out of the apartment and then was chased by Nowack. While running on Horne Avenue, he fired the weapon.

The woman also said Nowack had sent threatening text messages and had sent threatening videos through the social media platform Snapchat.

Nowack was placed in Butler County Prison. As of this morning, he still was in prison and his bond has not been set. He was scheduled to be arraigned before District Judge Kevin O’Donnell this morning.
