Authorities are seeking a convicted sex offender who failed to register with state police last month.

Glenn Earl Schreffler Jr., 51, is wanted on felony charges of failing to comply with registration of sexual offenders requirements.

District Judge Pete Shaffer on Thursday issued an arrest warrant for Schreffler after city police learned he was no longer living at his last listed address on Whitestown Road in Lyndora.

The defendant’s mother, who also lives at that house, told police that she kicked her son out in late April after he returned home drunk and started causing trouble, according to court documents.

Since them, she said, she had not seen the defendant. But she advised police that he has been known to stay in the Clay Hills area, a wooded part of the city frequented by the homeless.

Officers went there but could not find him.

Police, meanwhile, learned that Schreffler is a Tier 3 sex offender and must report his address and other personal information to state police four times a year.

He missed his May 15 reporting deadline, police said.

Schreffler was deemed a sexual offender under the state’s version of Megan’s Law stemming from his 1989 conviction for statutory rape. He was sentenced to 6 to 12 years in prison in that case.

He served more than 11 years in state prison, documents said.

Since his release from prison in 2000, Schreffler has continued to have scrapes with the law.

In 2004, he was arrested on a felony charge of escape after breaking free from a Butler police officer taking him to the Butler County Prison on a warrant.

He was convicted in that case in 2005, and sentenced to 3 to 6 years in state prison. He was paroled in 2008.

Schreffler in 2011 was convicted of disorderly conduct in Armstrong County and in 2013 was convicted of simple assault in Butler County.

Most recently, he was in the county prison for 24 days in connection with a public drunkenness case, prison officials said. He was released April 25.

Anyone with information about Schreffler’s whereabouts is asked to call Butler police at 724-287-7743, or call 911.
