PITTSBURGH — Amanda Shoup of Zelienople, a student chef at American Academy of Culinary Arts at Pittsburgh Technical Institute, earned a bronze medal at regionals in the 2015 Jeunes Chef Rôtisseurs competition sponsored by La Confrérie de la Chaîne des Rôtisseurs, an international gastronomic society.
Earlier this year, Shoup took first place at the Pittsburgh competition. She works at the Duquesne Club.
Shoup aspires to become an executive chef. She is a 2010 graduate of Seneca Valley High School.

ALLIANCE, Ohio — Amy Achenbach of Butler and Ryan Kissinger of Valencia were acknowledged at the University of Mount Union's Senior Recognition and Honors Convocation.
Achenbach, a junior history and French major, received the National Cabinet of Mount Union Women Scholarship, a Regula Scholar and the John E. and Helen W. Saffell Prize.
Ryan Kissinger, a junior geology major, received the Harold R. Dillow Geology Prize.
The convocation recognized the students for excelling academically, displaying excellent leadership skills and showing dedication to the university and community through outstanding community service initiatives.

PITTSBURGH — Jacob Ferguson, a junior and biochemistry major at Saint Vincent College, was honored with the College Chemistry Award from the Society for Analytical Chemists of Pittsburgh. He received a monetary prize and a certificate.The Saint Vincent College Library will receive a monetary award in his honor and his name will be added to a plaque in the college's chemistry department listing the prior award winners.Ferguson is the son of Ray and Kim Ferguson and a 2012 graduate of Butler High School.His achievements include dean's list from 2012 to 2014 and McConnaughey Scholar. He is a learning program facilitator for biology, volunteer of Big Brothers/Sisters, volunteer at Latrobe Hospital and member of the Public Health Club at Saint Vincent's.
