Government center to close during outage
The Butler County Government Center and courthouse will be closed after noon on Friday.
The closure will take place so the electricity can be shut down to both buildings. This is being done so the new government center annex building, which is under construction, can be hooked up to electrical service.
Several offices that need to remain available to the public will be set up in the public meeting room on the first floor of the government center: prothonotary, clerk of courts, register of wills and recorder of deeds. Also, a representative from court administration will be available to accept domestic relations filings.
No other employees or the public will be allowed beyond the lobby or in the courthouse after noon that day. The sheriff’s office and facilities staff will be on hand for security and operational purposes.
The power will remain off through at least Saturday morning. Normal operations will resume June 8.
