Afternoon crash

An elderly man was uninjured but his 1996 Pontiac Grand Prix was damaged just after 4 p.m. Thursday when he accidentally crashed into a support pole between the Subway restaurant and the Wine & Spirits store at the Greater Butler Mart on Route 8 in Butler Township, authorities said. Walter Smith Sr., 81, of Lyndora told officers that his car's gas pedal stuck, according to Butler Township police. The car had to be towed. A damage estimate at the shopping plaza was not immediately available.
