Cranberry Twp. approves school for autistic children
CRANBERRY TWP — The township supervisors recently approved an application from the Easter Seal Society that will bring a school for autistic children to a building on Rowan Road.
Ron Henshaw, the township’s director of community development, said Friday that the board’s approval will allow the nonprofit Easter Seals to provide instructional facilities for children with moderate to severe disabilities.
The school will be in a building at 8057 Rowan Road on a private road just east of the Rowan Elementary School. The building currently houses ProSource Digital Printing, which plan to divide its space and make 6,800 square feet available to the school.
The Easter Seals didn’t have to go through a long process to get approved in the township because it isn’t constructing a new building but just moving into an existing facility.
The only alteration at the site will be the addition of a new entrance to the parking lot, which will allow easier access for parents dropping off and picking up students.
