Pair of construction workers hurt at school
BUFFALO TWP — Two construction workers were taken by ambulance Monday afternoon from the construction site of the new Freeport Middle School.
Todd O’Shell, Freeport School District spokesman, said the workers are with Massaro Construction of Pittsburgh, which is the project’s general contractor.
Although the incident appeared to involve scaffolding, details about what happened and the workers’ injuries were not available.
The district began building the $30 million middle school in July. It is adjacent to the high school.
The 115,000-square-foot building is scheduled to open next year. It will serve sixth, seventh and eighth graders.
Currently, sixth graders are in the elementary schools, and the junior high school in Freeport has seventh and eighth graders.
The junior high in Freeport will close when the new middle school opens.
