CRANBERRY TWP — The $3.2 million renovation of the township municipal center on Rochester Road is nearly complete.

The project, begun earlier this year, included a new roof, new carpeting in the common areas and new classrooms and preschool rooms.

Tim Zinkham, township supervisor of engineering services, said the work should be done by the end of January.

The project remains on point both in cost and in scheduling, something that pleases Zinkham given the work's length and scope.

Crews still have to replace the carpeting, work that will be done in early January. Zinkham said the township asked construction crews to hold off on that until after the holiday season.

The municipal center also will get new LED lights. That work won't be completed until January.

Renovations to the parks and recreation department are under way, with the area being completely walled off to the public. That is expected to wrap up in several weeks.

Beyond that, Zinkham said, the project is finished.

Work previously included the installation of 25 new HVAC systems on the roof, enhancements to the back facade, construction of a new academic wing and three new multipurpose classrooms.

Township manager Jerry Andree said Wednesday that he's looking forward to construction being done, if only because residents can begin using the new and updated amenities.

“The municipal center continues to be an evolving community asset, constantly changing to reflect the needs of the community,” he said. “It will be great when all of the renovations are completed for public use.”
