Shoplifting added to woman's charges
A Butler woman who is facing a hearing on a drug charge later this month has been charged with retail theft.
Butler police charged Jouline L. Walker, 25, of Butler with shoplifting merchandise valued at less than $50 from the Sunoco/A-Plus convenience store on West Jefferson Street about 11:30 a.m. Nov. 7.
Store surveillance video helped police identify Walker, who has six prior shoplifting convictions, according to court documents. She is charged with felony retail theft in the case.
Walker, meanwhile, is already facing a preliminary hearing later this month on unrelated charges stemming from her suspected drug overdose Nov. 6 outside a Laundromat on North Monroe Street.
Officers found Walker unconscious in the driver’s seat of a vehicle. On the ground next to the vehicle’s passenger side was Walker’s friend, 29-year-old Eric M. O’Donnell, who also was unconscious. He was surrounded by empty stamp bags of heroin.
Police awakened the couple, who both admitted they had injected heroin. Inside the vehicle, officers found 20 stamp bags of heroin, six syringes and other drug contraband.
O’Donnell was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital while Walker refused medical treatment.
Walker and O’Donnell are both charged in that case with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia and disorderly conduct. Walker also was cited for driving with a suspended license.
Preliminary hearings for both suspects are set for Dec. 22.
