Assault, theft case is filed

BUFFALO TWP — A township resident is facing an aggravated assault charge stemming from an alleged incident in September.

Township police said Samuel Orbin, 24, punched and kicked another man Sept. 6 while attending a party at a home on the 100-block of Ronald Drive.

Police said the victim, who was highly intoxicated and unable to defend himself during the assault, suffered bruises, lacerations and broken bones, according to court documents.

The following day Orbin checked in on the victim due to concerns about his injuries, police said. However, during the visit Orbin allegedly stole $220 from the victim’s wallet.

Orbin was arraigned before District Judge Sue Haggerty Friday night and was sent to Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail. He has a preliminary hearing scheduled for 10:45 a.m. Wednesday.

He has been charged with aggravated assault, theft by unlawful taking, and disorderly conduct.
