Jessica Dawes, who is a participant in the Pennsylvania National Guard, attended the U.S. Army Basic Combat Training Course at Fort Jackson, S.C.

She received a physical fitness award and was in the top 10 percent of her cycle of more than 1,400 soldiers.

Jessica is a senior at Butler High School.
