Floyd N. Ohl

Floyd N. Ohl, 68, of Butler passed away peacefully Friday at the Saxony Health Center, Saxonburg.

Floyd is formally of Fawn Township. He was born in Natrona Heights on June 12, 1946, and was the son of the late Esther J. (Harvey) and Harper A. Ohl.

Floyd was a 1964 graduate of Tarentum High School.

He worked for more than 40 years as a self-employed heavy equipment operator and retired in 2011.

Floyd was a member of the Armstrong Lodge 239 in Freeport and the 32 degree Scottish Rite Masons of the Valley of New Castle. He enjoyed country and Carolina “shag” beach music, watching dirt track racing and NASCAR and was a dog lover. Floyd was also involved with putting on kids pedal tractor pulling events. He loved spending time with his family and especially his granddaughter, Autumn.

He is survived by his son, Brent L. Ohl of Saxonburg; his granddaughter, Autumn Ohl of Saxonburg; his sister, Darlene (Gus) Thompson of Saxonburg; his brother, Bruce Ohl of Saxonburg; his nephew, Justin (Noel) Thompson of Saxonburg; his niece, Samantha Ohl of Fawn Township; and his great-nephew, Chase Thompson.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Jean Ohl.

OHL — Family and friends of Floyd N. Ohl, who died Friday, Aug. 15, 2014, will be received from noon to 2 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday in the Redmond Funeral Home, 524 High St., Freeport. A Masonic service will be at 5 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.Funeral service will be in the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Monday with the Rev. John Gehring-Anders of the Pleasant Unity United Presbyterian Church officiating.
