3 reach semifinals for scholarship
Three local students are among 16,000 students nationwide named as semifinalists for the 2015 National Merit Scholarship Program.
Emily Feczko of Butler High School, Eric McElhinny of Seneca Valley High School and homeschool student Evelyn Munson of Grove City are semifinalists.
The 16,000 students will be narrowed down to 7,600 scholarship recipients in the spring, each receiving $2,500 scholarships and becoming eligible for other awards, totaling $33 million in scholarships next year.
These students are selected on their skills, accomplishments and the potential for success in college.

NEW WILMINGTON — Scott Raley, a senior business administration major at Westminster College, received a scholarship from the Ann M. Kendlehart Scholarship Fund of The Pittsburgh Foundation.
He is a graduate of Butler High School and is the son of William and Gail Raley of Butler.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — Five students from the area who attend Youngstown State University received awards through the YSU Scholarships for Excellence program.
Allison Mizgorski of Butler received the First Opportunity Award. Mizgorski is majoring in pre-dental hygiene.
Receiving the Red and White Scholarship were Brianne Blanchard of Grove City, a psychology major, Nicholas Hazelton of Grove City, a music composition major, Aubrey Schnur of Chicora, a pre-dental hygiene major, and Shyniah Watson of Mars, a pre-nursing major.
