Margie Ruth Hoover Thompson
Margie Ruth Hoover Thompson, 93, of Butler went to be with her Lord and Savior at 11:15 a.m. Saturday at Amity Personal Care in Slippery Rock.
Margie was born on Jan. 23, 1921, in Butler County. She was the daughter of the late Mossie Emery Grossman and the late Pearl Tebay Grossman.
Margie was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in Butler. At the church, she was a member of the Berean Sunday school class and the Women's Missionary Fellowship, and was the organizer for the Berean Class socials and crafts. Margie was also a member of the Moniteau Home Extension Group.
Margie loved quilting, crocheting, cooking, growing flowers, and God's creation of birds.
Margie is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Leroy (Alice) Stamm of Butler; a son, James (Jayne) Hoover of West Sunbury; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Joe (Martha) Todor of Zelienople, and Mrs. Paul (Harriett) Brown of Cowansville; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, and a number of stepgrandchildren.
Margie was preceded in death by her first husband, Merle Hoover, who passed away on May 31, 1975; her second husband, Harry Thompson, who passed away on Sept. 9, 1976; three sisters; two brothers, and a stepson.
Thompson — The family and friends of Margie Ruth Hoover Thompson, who passed away Saturday, June 21, 2014, will be received at the William F. Young Funeral Home, 132 Main St., West Sunbury from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with her pastor, Dave Maitland, officiating.
