Paola Alvarado, a 2014 graduate of Butler High School, will receive the Housing and Redevelopment Insurance Exchange Michael Stefan Memorial Scholarship Award. She will be one of only two students to receive this award in Pennsylvania.
She has been accepted to the University of Pittsburgh, Greensburg, and plans to pursue a degree in chemistry.
In high school, she took a blended schedule of honors level courses and also was enrolled in the health assistant program at Butler County Area Vocational-Technical School.

Hope Bremiller received a Creative Minds Scholarship to Florida’s Full Sail University, which specializes in entertainment, media and the arts.
Bremiller is a 2014 graduate of Moniteau High School and was a commercial art student at Butler County Area Vocational-Technical School.

PITTSBURGH — Andrew Lingenfelter of Evans City is participating in the prestigious Pennsylvania Governor’s School for the Sciences at Carnegie Mellon University.
The five-week program provides enrichment experiences in the sciences and mathematics and encourages careers in science and technology. Students selected for the program are top achievers at their schools.
Andrew is a student at Seneca Valley High School and the son of Holly and Thor Lingenfelter.

The Challenge Program distributed awards to seniors at Moniteau High School. The students were recognized for excellence in several areas.
The recipients were Emily Snow for academic excellence, Lara Bommer for attendance and academic improvement, Kristin McDeavitt for community service and Fontaine Glenn for STEM.
XTO Energy, a subsidiary of ExxonMobil, sponsors the program at several area schools.
