Rose A. Hillwig

Rose A. Hillwig, 94, of East Brady passed away Sunday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice, Butler.

Born on Feb. 26, 1920, in Bradys Bend, she was the daughter of the late Phillip D. and Edith A. (Ritchey) Bowser.

On Sept. 18, 1936, Rose married Melvin Hillwig. He preceded her in death.

Rose was a crane operator for Pullman Standard in Butler and later worked in the housekeeping department of Butler Hospital for 22 years.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, East Brady, and of the Red Hat Society. Rose enjoyed cheering on the Penguins, Pirates and Steelers, and she also enjoyed fishing and gardening.

Surviving are her two daughters, Barbara Hoover and her husband, Jim, of Butler and Nancy Hutchinson and her husband, Lyle, of Karns City, and her two sons, Roy Hillwig and his wife, Ellen, of Grove City and Greg Hillwig and his wife, Debbie, of Butler. Rose is also survived by her 10 grandchildren; her 16 great-grandchildren; and her five great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her two sons, Robbie and Donald; her sister, Joyce Shepard; and her two brothers, Phillip and Thomas.

Hillwig— The friends of Rose A. Hillwig, who passed away Sunday, June 8, 2014, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Buechele Funeral Home, 707 Kellys Way, East Brady.Additional visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Church, East Brady, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Raymond Eichler officiating. Burial in Bradys Bend Cemetery will be private.The Hillwig family asks that in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to the East Brady Ambulance, P.O.
