Decathlon team claims 3rd in nation

CHERRY VALLEY — The Moniteau Academic Decathlon Team won third place in the National Academic Decathlon Competition in the small school division. They received their awards at the annual Academic Sports League Banquet at Edinboro University.

Awarded individual national medals were: Patrick Snyder receiving one gold medal, Carter Miller receiving four bronze medals and Jake Taciuch receiving two bronze medals, two silver medals and two gold medals.

Taciuch also received a silver medal in the scholastic division, meaning that he ranked second in the nation in that division.

The Academic Sports League also presented awards and scholarships for the Northwestern Pennsylvania division, which has 25 schools. From Moniteau, Jack Taciuch received the Scholastic Award for the second highest individual score in the Northwestern Pennsylvania division. He also received a full four-year scholarship to Gannon University.

Carter Miller received the Einstein Award for the highest individual score in the Northwestern Pennsylvania division.
