Francis H. Gehenio

Francis H. Gehenio, 89, of Buffalo Township passed away Monday at Good Samaritan Hospice, Cabot.

He was born on Aug. 26, 1924, in East Deer Township, a son of the late John J. and Theresa (Mueller) Gehenio.

Francis lived most of his life in Buffalo Township. He was a millwright for 42 years at PPG, Creighton.

Francis was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army.

He was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Cabot, the Knights of Columbus, the NRA, and the Saxonburg American Legion, and he was a supporter of many Christian charities.

He graduated from St. Joseph High School and enjoyed planting trees on his farm, raising gladiolas, hunting, and fishing.

Survivors include his children, Regina A. Gehenio of Waldorf, Md., and Anthony M. (Lori) Gehenio of Buffalo Township; his grandchildren, Angelique (Brian) Claypoole, Gabriel (Jennifer) Gehenio, Audie Smith, Aaron (Terrilynn) Smith, Christopher (Lindsey) Smith, Kyle Smith, and Gloria Smith, and five great-grandchildren. Also surviving are sons-in-law, Audie Smith Sr. and Don Murphy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria M. (Janello) Gehenio in 1994; three children, Francis H. Gehenio, Elizabeth Jean Murphy and Olivia Rose Smith; brothers, Carl, John, William and Joseph Gehenio, and sisters, Sophia Radion, Elizabeth Kvietkus, Sister Pierre Gehenio, Christine Bennett, and Gertrude Morrison.

Gehenio — Visitation for Francis H. Gehenio, who passed away Monday, May 26, 2014, will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the Duster Funeral Home, 347 E. 10th Ave., Tarentum.A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Church, 315 Stoney Hollow Road, Cabot, with Father Mark Pattock, OFM, Cap., officiating. Everyone is asked to please meet at the church. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Herman, with full military honors by the Tarentum VFW Post 5758.The family suggests contributions be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
