Man, 26 accused of assault

CHICORA — A man is headed for a possible trial on charges he attacked and injured his father during an argument at a home in Clearfield Township.

Adam J. Compton, 26, of Fenelton on Tuesday waived his preliminary hearing at the office of District Judge Lewis Stoughton in Chicora. He is charged with simple assault and harassment.

Compton and his father, 49-year-old John R. Compton of Fenelton got into an altercation about 7 p.m. May 11 at the home in the 700 block of Clearfield Road, state police said. The elder Compton later got in his car and tried to drive away.

However, according to court documents, the defendant ran after the car and reached into the diver’s side window. Compton reached into the window, grabbed his father’s face and punched him, police said.

The alleged victim managed to drive away. Troopers said when they found John Compton he was bleeding and had scrapes and scratches on both sides of his face and his T-shirt was ripped.

The defendant was arrested that night and placed in the Butler County Prison on $2,000 bail.

Stoughton agreed to lower the bail to $100 after Compton waived his hearing.
