Karns City woman gets up to 23 months
A mother who falsely told officials her ex-husband was on his way to their 5-year-old son’s elementary school with a gun was sentenced Tuesday to prison.
Ashley R. Soose, 27, of Karns City pleaded guilty to making terroristic threats and possession of contraband in two related cases.
She was sentenced by Butler County Judge William Shaffer to a plea arrangement made earlier with the Butler County District Attorney’s office: 11½ to 23 months in prison, followed by 5 years probation.
According to court records, Soose’s false report on Nov. 6 prompted a lockdown at Chicora Elementary School and the presence of troopers there.
Soose’s ex-husband was located, detained, searched and interviewed.
State police filed the second case after correctional officers at the county prison found Soose with suspected drugs Nov. 6, the same day she was arrested and jailed in the alleged gun threat hoax.
Soose has credit for 196 days she spent in jail awaiting the resolution of this case.
