CHICORA — The borough will have two events to tidy itself up.

A “spring spruce up,” a boroughwide litter pickup, will be at 1:30 p.m. May 11. It is in partnership with Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful and the Great American Cleanup of Pennsylvania.

Volunteers will meet at the Chicora Municipal Park on Route 68 and will be directed from there. Borough maps, work gloves, safety vests and collection bags will be provided.

The second event, the annual cleanup days, will take place May 14 on the east side of Main Street and on May 16 on the west side of Main Street.

Residents will be able to dispose of trash that normally is not included in weekly trash pickups. Serafine Hauling will do the pickup.

Only one collection will be made so residents should get their items out early in the day.

Items that are not permitted for the pickup are televisions, air conditioners, unused paint, tires, anything containing toxic ingredients and similar substances.
