Dennis 'Denny' Garver
Dennis “Denny” Garver, 62, of Rimersburg passed away Wednesday at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital.
He was born on April 11, 1951, in Rimersburg, the son of the late Mary Mae (Haggerty) and Thurston Garver.
Denny was a lifelong resident of Rimersburg and graduated from Union High School in 1969. He worked at PennDOT for 36 years, spending the first 20 years in Clarion and the last 16 in Butler after being promoted to the position of assistant maintenance manager.
Denny was active in the area, holding memberships with the Clarion Masonic Lodge, the Eagles in Clarion and the Rimersburg First United Methodist Church. Also, he was a former member of the Rimersburg Lions Club and the Shriners.
He loved riding his Harley through the country and being outdoors, especially to hunt and play golf. Watching sports was another one of his hobbies, but above all, he cherished the time spent with family and friends. Those who knew Denny will never forget how he was always there for anyone who needed him and how he was an all-around great guy.
His memory will be cherished by his daughters, Tricia Niederriter and her husband, Kirk, of Hilliards, and Denise Garver of Butler; his grandchildren, Logan, Derek, Anna and Steven; his brother, Bud Garver of Rimersburg; his sister, Donna Thorpe and her husband, Ed, of Rimersburg; and his numerous nieces and nephews.
Denny was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Ella Craig.
