Man sentenced to life for role in fatal shooting
PITTSBURGH — One man will spend life in prison, while two others will each serve 14 to 30 years for their roles in a fatal shooting during a drug-related robbery at a former Slippery Rock University student’s Allegheny County home.
Allegheny County Judge Philip Ignelzi on Thursday sentenced the 24-year-old triggerman, Devele Reid of Pittsburgh, to life, while sentencing 19-year-old Brandon Lind and 18-year-old Jon Lee, both of Swissvale, to the lesser terms.
Prosecutors say all three were liable in the June 2012 death of 20-year-old Jordan Coyner. They say the defendants went to his Kennedy Township home to steal cash and marijuana.
Prosecutors say it was Lee’s idea to rob someone, Lind suggested Coyner as the target and Reid shot Coyner. Lind drove the men to the scene, while Lee was a lookout.
Coyner was a sophomore business administration student at SRU.
