LEWISBURG — Seneca Valley swimmer Ali Kozlina capped her freshman season by placing 15th in the 100-yard freestyle at the PIAA Class AAA Girls Championship Meet on Thursday at Bucknell University.
After swimming the event in 52.74 seconds in the preliminary round, Kozlina managed 52.5 in the consolation finals.
PHOENIX — A former longtime Fiesta Bowl chief executive was sentenced to eight months in federal prison after acknowledging he participated in an illegal campaign contribution scheme.John Junker was sentenced after pleading guilty two years ago to a conspiracy charge in the scheme in which bowl employees made illegal campaign contributions to politicians and were reimbursed by the nonprofit bowl.Bowl employees were reimbursed at least $46,000 for such contributions.
NEW YORK — Chris Fowler is taking over play-by-play responsibilities for the marquee Saturday night college football game on ABC.ESPN announced that Fowler had signed a nine-year contract extension through 2023. The network said a day earlier that Brent Musburger was leaving “Saturday Night Football” and doing games for SEC Network.
GOODYEAR, Ariz. — Cleveland's Jason Giambi will be sidelined for about three-to-four weeks with a broken rib in his right side.Giambi was hit by a pitch thrown by Edwin Jackson of the Chicago Cubs in the third inning of a March 7 game. X-rays at the time were negative, but Cleveland said the 43-year-old Giambi had felt increased discomfort over previous five days.

If I can keep my body healthy then I think the plan is to race next year.”
