SR board OKs vo-tech budget
PROSPECT — The Slippery Rock School Board on Monday unanimously approved the district’s share of the 2014-15 Butler County Vocational-Technical School budget.
Joe Cunningham, vo-tech director, presented the $4.6 million budget to the board.
The district’s share is $269,659, which is down from $302,131 this year. Cunningham said the cost is going down because fewer Slippery Rock students are attending the school.
In 2012-13, 92 Slippery Rock students went to the vo-tech. This year, 70 students are attending. Only 57 are projected to attend next year.
Board member Michael Scheer said the fact the district’s cost is going down is good, but he said it also is bad because that means that fewer district students are attending the vo-tech school.
In addition to Slippery Rock, the Butler, Karns City, Moniteau and Seneca Valley school districts also approved the budget.
