Seneca board OKs tech budget
JACKSON TWP — Seneca Valley’s school board Monday night approved the county vocational technical school’s budget for next year.
Seneca Valley’s portion of the $4.6 million budget includes a $548,000 payment, a figure that is up more than $38,000 from last year.
Joseph Cunningham, director of the school, came to a board meeting last week and presented his budget to the board.
At the time, he said Seneca Valley students account for more than 15 percent of the daily attendance at the school, a figure that was used to determine the district’s payment.
Seneca Valley is one of seven school districts in Butler County that pays into the vo-tech budget. The amount each district pays is calculated by the number of students it sends to the school.
Board President Eric DiTullio, who also serves as one of Seneca Valley’s two representatives on the vo-tech’s joint operating committee, said he was pleased in how Cunningham and his staff approached this year’s budget.
“This is exactly what we wanted to see and how we wanted to see it done,” he said.
Seneca Valley sends about 120 students to the school per year.
