Hannon goes 4-0 in mat tournament
Butler’s Ryan Hannon went 4-0 with a pair of pins to earn first place at 182 pounds at the 28-team Chartiers-Houston Wrestling Tournament over the weekend.
Hannon’s victory, his second title at the event in as many years, helped the Golden Tornado place second as a team with 212 points, just five behind champion Peters Township.
Connor Foust (126 pounds) and Will Bortmas (220) both went 3-1 to place second while Jeremiah Bortmas recorded a 5-1 mark and finished third.
Mason Kauffman (132), Cody Houston (138), Alex White (195) and J.D. Bojanac (285) all placed fourth while Scott Dietrich (120) was sixth.
Slippery Rock junior Zane Wolf placed first at 195 pounds at the Hickory Tournament. He capped his title with a 3-1 decision over Ridgway’s Ryan Geyer in the championship bout.
Aside from the Rockets, Mars and Knoch also competed at the event. Following are Butler County wrestlers who placed in the top eight in their weight class, which appears in parenthesis.

Fifth place: Nathan Bair (Mars, 182)
Sixth place: Silas Bender (Mars, 132), Brandon Yobst (Knoch, 138), Chris Lorch (Mars, 152)
Seventh place: Tony Lacava (Mars, 220)
Eighth place: Jesse Chen (Mars, 113), Ryan Barnes (Mars, 170), Dalton Ashton (Knoch, 195)
