SHARON — The District 10 Class AA football quarterfinal game between Sharon and Girard has been postponed after tragedy struck the Tigers late Friday night.

The Butler Eagle received this email from District 10 official Peter Iacino at 12:26 a.m. Saturday:

“Late Friday night there was a car accident involving 4 Sharon High School football players. At this time, 2 of the students are known to have been killed. The two other students have been taken to an area hospital.

Because of this very tragic accident, the Sharon-Girard Playoff football game scheduled for Saturday November 9th has been cancelled.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of those killed and injured and with the entire Sharon High School community.”

It is unknown when or if the game will be played.
