Elizabeth Papantonio of Zelienople is the president of the National Society for Minorities in Hospitality at Ashland University.

She is a 2010 graduate of Seneca Valley High School and the daughter of Tony Papantonio and Karen Haluck.

The National Society of Minorities in Hospitality promotes diversity in the workplace.

Sarah Francino of Renfrew gave a research presentation at Muskingum University’s Fall Research and Internship Forum at the Boyd Science Center in New Concord, Ohio.

Her presentation was “Successional Change in the ECM Population of Chestnut Restoration Form, 2008 to 2012.”

Francino is a 2012 graduate of Seneca Valley High School.

Moniteau High School’s Academic Decathlon team placed second at the Academic Sports League’s first competition of the season held at Mercyhurst College.

Seven team members received individual medals, and the nine-person super quiz relay team each won a silver medal for their efforts.

Carter Miller achieved the highest individual score in the entire competition.

The team’s coach is Ken Cloonan.
