James Burkert

James Burkert of Evans City will celebrate his 90th birthday with an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Evans City. The family requests no gifts.

Burkert was born Nov. 3, 1923, in Evans City. He married the former Catherine J. Scheidemantle on July 27, 1946, at Zion Lutheran Church, Middle Lancaster. She is deceased.

He has two children, James Burkert of New Brighton, Colo., and Joyce Barto of Evans City. He also has five grandchildren.

Burkert is a barber who continues to work three mornings each week. He is a member of the VFW in Evans City. He also is a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Evans City.
