Charles and Ellen Nye

Charles and Ellen Nye of Portersville celebrated 60 years of marriage at a surprise party given in their honor by friends and relatives on Oct. 12 in the fellowship hall of the Ellwood City Free Methodist Church.

Nye married the former Ellen McEwen on Oct. 17, 1953, at the Mercer Free Methodist Church with the late Rev. Joseph Taylor and the late Rev. George Saylor officiating.

Nye was the manager of the Agway Feed Store in Portersville. After retirement, he worked part-time at Moore and Moore Hardware Store.

Mrs. Nye worked at J.C. Penney and Dust Proof Manufacturing Co.

The Nyes enjoy the outdoors and helping at Nye’s Hillside Orchard.

They are members of the Ellwood City Free Methodist Church where Mrs. Nye is the organist.
