Autopsy set after body found in pond

VOLANT — An autopsy has been set on the body of a man found floating in a pond at a quarry.

State police say the body of 59-year-old Dwight Edward Copper, of New Castle, was recovered after a witness spotted his body in 10 feet of water at Kino Quarry on Sunday afternoon.

A deputy Lawrence County coroner pronounced Copper dead at the scene and determined he likely died the day before. An autopsy was planned today.

The quarry is in Washington Township.

Copper had been awaiting trial on drug charges filed last month by Neshannock Township police.
