Butler City’s Josh Friel and Spencer Murray combined for a one-hitter, but Meridian prevailed with a 4-2 victory on Saturday in Legion baseball action at Highfield Park.

Jesse Saviski scored two runs and earned the win on the mound, while Adam Schaffner picked up the save and tallied Meridian’s lone hit.

Drew Spangler had two RBIs for Meridian. Matt Dowdy and Jake Koerner each scored a run.

Friel paced the offense for Butler City with a triple, single and run scored. Timmy Butler doubled and drove in a run, while Tristen Fields also had an RBI. Shea Stobert singled and scored a run and Hunter Moore also singled.

Slippery Rock 1, Saxonburg 0 — Ryan Grace pitched a complete-game shutout and drove home Jesse Hodge for the winning run during the seventh inning in a game that lasted just 62 minutes.
