Colleen Costello of Cranberry Township, a junior sociology major at Westminster College, was inducted into the International Sociology Honorary Society Alpha Kappa Delta in April.

WQED Pittsburgh announced local winners for the PBS KIDS GO! writers contest sponsored by EQT.

Savana Libecco of Rimbersburg received second place in the kindergarten category for her story “Shiney Dolphin and Cutey Cat Play All Day.”

Sophia Klonowski of Grove City received second place in the first grade category for her story “The Adventures of Me and My Dog Gizmo.”

Nicholas Rine, son of Shane and Darla Rine of Evans City, was selected to participate in the C-MITES summer program for academically talented students.

He will attend “Bridge Boom” mathematics at Carnegie Mellon University in June.

Nicholas is a third grade student at Butler Catholic School.
