Last year at this time we were basking in 70s

What a difference a year makes.

Residents awoke today — the first full day of spring — to face scraping snow from their windshields, and they may have been longing to go back to 2012.

That was when the thermometer crested at 77 degrees on March 20 and 75 on March 21, both records.

On Wednesday, the high was just 39.

However, the weather picture is a lot more normal when looking at monthly averages, according to figures from the National Weather Service.

The average temperature for January was 28.7 compared to the historical average of 26.7.

The average temperature for February was 26.3 degrees compared to the historical average of 29.

And the average temperature so far for March is 33.4 degrees, compared to the historical average of 36.8.
