Freeport softball cruises to win

Sydney Selker struck out 10 in four innings on Tuesday, allowing only one hit as Freeport’s softball team rolled to a 17-0 win over Shady Side Academy.

Leah Clark had four hits, including a double, for the Yellowjackets (10-6, 6-4). Selker had a pair of doubles and Jayme Radvan doubled.

The Yellowjackets pounded out 16 hits in the victory.

Karns City 4, Redbank Valley 1 — Nicole Huff had a double, single and scored a pair of runs for the Gremlins. Addison Burrows scattered nine hits in seven innings, striking out five and allowing no walks for the win.

Jada Polczynski contributed two singles and a run scored while Lyrik Reed tripled for the Gremlins.

Baldwin 10, Butler 5 — Kelsey Ogin struck out 10 in the Golden Tornado loss. Kaela Malis had a double and RBI, Gracie Negley a single and RBI. Mylie Schaefer added a double for Butler.

The Tornado close their season Wednesday at Baldwin.

Boys Volleyball

Coleton Welter had nine kills as Butler rolled to a 3-0 victory at Fox Chapel. Match scores were 25-22, 25-18, 25-19. Alec Teff had two aces.

Riley Chapla tallied 11 digs and Mason McCall 15 assists for the Golden Tornado (9-5, 6-5), who host Seneca Valley on Thursday night.

Mars 3, Derry Area 0 — The Planets swept this meet over Derry Area.Scores were 25-20, 25-20, 25-18. No other information was provided.

North Allegheny 3, Seneca Valley 1 — No further information was provided.
