Emily Ekas and Lauren Russo, both dance students at the Butler Center of the Performing Arts, recently were accepted into the summer intensive program with the Joffrey Ballet in New York.
During the program they will receive training during rigorous daily sessions and perform at a local theater.
The students auditioned in a national screening process.
Emily is a sophomore at Knoch High School and has been dancing for 13 years. Lauren is in eighth grade at Butler Junior High and has been dancing for nine years.

Cadet Capt. Michael Kittleson, Cadet Commander of Civil Air Patrol Squadron 712 Butler, participated in a Capitol Hill legislative day in Washington, D.C.His participation was in recognition of his achievements and demonstrated leadership abilities in the squadron.
The cadet shared his experiences about the organization's emergency services, aerospace education and youth programs with U.S. Rep. Mike Kelly, R-3rd.In addition, Kelly presented Kittleson with CAP's prestigious Amelia Earhart Award earned after achieving several leadership, aerospace and fitness milestones in the U.S. Air Force auxiliary's cadet program.
