1:34 p.m. Thursday — Frederick Phillips III, 31, of Butler was arrested and placed in the Butler County Prison for a state parole violation after police caught him in a yard at Morton and Sumner avenues following a brief foot chase that started near his home on Lyons Avenue.12:54 p.m. Thursday — A repeat shoplifter, 40-year-old Bobbie D. Wolfe of Butler, was arrested for felony shoplifting after she was caught allegedly taking a banana, beef ravioli and iced tea from the Friedman's supermarket on West Brady Street. The items are valued at a combined $12.18.Wolfe was arraigned on a felony count of retail theft and released on her own recognizance. She is charged with a felony because she has four prior shoplifting arrests.Wednesday — A burglar stole a small amount of money, and apparently some 'Zs', from an apartment in the 300 block of West Penn Street.The tenant, a 28-year-old woman, told police that the break-in happened between March 7 and Wednesday, when she was away. She said that when she returned home she found the door had been forced in. Police said the door jamb was broken and the face plate damaged.When she went inside, she noticed the heat had been turned up much higher than what she had left it. It also appeared that someone had slept on an air mattress.The tenant told police that she had given no one permission to use her apartment.Fifty dollars in change was missing from a small bank in the living room, but nothing else was taken.Neighbors reported no unusual activity at the woman's apartment during the time she was gone.
8:30 a.m. Wednesday — Two girls were cited for fighting at the Butler Intermediate School. The girls, who police did not identify, are charged with disorderly conduct.12:21 p.m. Tuesday — David Tack Jr., 48, of Butler allegedly stole a Bissell sweeper valued at $259 from the Lowes Home Improvement store at Moraine Pointe Plaza. Tack is charged with theft and receiving stolen property.Penn Twp. Police3:15 a.m. Thursday — A suspected hit-and-run driver faces charges after his pickup truck hit a tree on Sandy Hill Road in Middlesex Township. The suspect, who police did not immediately identify, fled, leaving his truck behind. He later was found at his home.
7:34 a.m. Thursday — A car driven by Crystal L. Claypoole, 36, of Grove City struck a deer on Route 8 just north of Houston Lane in Slippery Rock Township.4:02 a.m. Wednesday — About $300 in currency was stolen during a burglary at H&M Truck and Auto on West Old Route 422 in Franklin Township. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.Sunday — A vandal damaged a chain-link fence at Noland’s Auto Salvage on Creek Road in Forward Township. The vandalism happened between March 2 and Sunday.
