PITTSBURGH —For the second consecutive year, Hotel Saxonburg's head chef has won the Best of the Chefs award at the 10th annual Glass Slipper Ball, presented by the Zonta Club of Three Rivers Pittsburgh North on March 2.

Chef Alan Green prepared gyro-wrapped sea scallops on a homemade pizza to take the 2013 prize, as judged by 550 attendees at the ball, which raises money for women's outreach and initiative programs.

“It was so unusual. There was a lot of great food there, but (Green's) was truly unique,” said Hotel Saxonburg owner Judy Ferree, who attended the ball.

Green, who has worked at Hotel Saxonburg for more than 20 years, plus a short stint at the Springfield Grille in Cranberry Township, took the Glass Slipper Ball prize in 2012 with crab cakes and a Belgian endive finger salad.
