Grove City Police5:51 p.m. Sunday — A sport utility vehicle driven by a 17-year-old boy struck a utility pole at Grace and East Pine streets. Police said the boy, who they did not identify, was cited for careless driving.7:12 a.m. Feb. 27 — An SUV driven by Jason M. Bowers, 37, of Grove City crashed into a utility pole along Elm Street while leaving the Country Fair parking lot.
State Police, Butler4:39 a.m. Sunday — Cynthia M. Scott, 36, of Butler was hurt when the vehicle she was driving spun on the snow and collided with a car on Route 68 near Evans Street in Evans City. Scott, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. Police said she was cited for a lane violation. Timothy J. Schubert was the other driver.3:04 a.m. Thursday — An unknown vandal set fire to a man’s pickup truck at a home on Hunt Road in Slippery Rock Township. The pickup was burned in the incident. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.
State Police, Clarion12:17 a.m. Sunday — James Hager, 42, of Emlenton was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Interstate 80 in Clarion Township.
State Police, Mercer1:05 a.m. Tuesday — Two boys held at the George Junior Republic detention center in Pine Township were arrested after allegedly attacking a staff member and stealing his car. The boys, both 15 years old, drove about 45 miles before wrecking the car on Interstate 80 at exit 45 in Richland Township, Clarion County.The youths, who were returned to the facility on Route 58, are charged with robbery, aggravated assault, theft of a vehicle and escape.In a separate escape at the detention center, another boy ran off from the campus; however, staff members caught him and he, too, was returned. He is charged with escape.Tuesday — Police are seeking the public’s help in solving a burglary that happened between Dec. 23 and Jan. 11 at a home on Sandy Lake-Grove City Road in Sandy Lake Township. About 150 gallons of heating oil was stolen from a tank in the home’s basement.Additionally, the unknown burglar stole 90 feet of copper pipe from the water system in the basement as well as a large spaghetti dish. The stolen property is valued at $865.Anyone with information about the break-in is asked to call police at 724-662-6162.4 p.m. Sunday — One person was hurt when a pickup truck driven by Brian W. Collar, 25, of Grove City struck a ditch and culvert on Airport Road just south of Laver Road in Perry Township. Collar’s passenger, John B. Collar, 50, of Mercer, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries. Police said Brian Collar was cited for driving too fast for conditions.
Harrisville Police1:30 p.m. Saturday — Michael J. Hemann, 36, of Slippery Rock was arrested on drug-related charges after a traffic stop in the 400 block of West Mercer Street. Police said Hemann is charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
