FARMINGTON — The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board has approved 28 table games for the planned $60 million Lady Luck Casino at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort in southwestern Pennsylvania.

Nemacolin is one of two Pennsylvania resorts to be granted a casino license.

The casino to be run by Isle of Capri Casinos is set to open this summer and had previously been approved to have 600 slot machines.

Wednesday's vote by the gaming board means the casino will also offer 14 blackjack tables, two roulette tables, two craps tables and 10 tables for various kinds of poker games.

Casino officials say Lady Luck will employ 400 people, including 130 who will operate the table games.

PITTSBURGH — About 1,300 Duquesne University students were looking for another place to stay after a power outage in three dormitories.The university asked the students to either go home or stay with friends in other residence halls or off-campus. The outage hit St. Ann, St. Martin and Assumption halls about 10:30 a.m. Thursday.Duquesne spokesman Bridget Fare said the university would make arrangements for students who couldn't find another place to stay.Classes today are canceled because of the outage.

HARRISBURG — Jerry Sandusky's attorneys have notified his trial judge that he wants a state appeals court to overturn his convictions for molesting boys.Attorneys for the former Penn State assistant football coach filed a pair of appeal notices Thursday that indicate Sandusky wants the state Superior Court to take up his convictions on 45 counts of child sexual abuse. The notices were filed in the Centre County Courthouse in Bellefonte, the site of his three-week trial last summer.Also Thursday, Penn State outlined in a new court filing why it thinks a defamation and whistleblower lawsuit filed by a former football assistant coach who reported Sandusky in 2001 lacks merit and should be dismissed.The university filed a document that fleshed out its response to Mike McQueary's civil suit over how he was treated after reporting that he saw the former defensive coordinator showering with a boy.In the Sandusky criminal case, the new defense filing comes a month after the trial judge rejected their post-sentencing motions.
