George Allen Stephenson

George Allen Stephenson, 64, of Heather Drive, Butler, passed to his heavenly home surrounded by his loving wife and family at 2:15 p.m. Sunday at the Allegheny General Hospital.

Born May 19, 1948, in Butler, he was the son of the late Calvin L. Stephenson Sr. and Ruth M. (Miller) Stephenson.

He was a 1966 graduate of Knoch High School and continued his education at Delta State Junior College in Mississippi and Pennsylvania State University.

He had worked at U.S. Gypsum in Mississippi and Ohio, Pullman Standard, Castle Rubber Company, Carbojet and RHGL at Stirling Village. He also had done business and home building and remodeling.

He was a member of the St. John’s Reformed Church of Butler, where he was a past deacon and elder and a Sunday school teacher. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, antiques, flea markets and working on his family genealogy.

He is survived by his loving wife, Norene R. (Hemphill) Stephenson, who he married on Oct. 6, 1979. He also is survived by his brother, William “Bill” Stephenson and his wife, Cindy, of Saxonburg; and two sisters, Norma Jean Martinkovich and her husband, Richard, of Prospect and Sue Ellen Manuel and her husband, Tom, of West Sunbury. Survivors also include nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father; brother, Calvin Lee Stephenson Jr.; and nephew, Alan W. Stephenson.

STEPHENSON — Visitation for George Allen Stephenson, who passed away Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012, will be at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.

Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Dr. Robert Peterson at the St. John’s Reformed Church, 493 Evans City Road, Butler, at 11 a.m. Thursday, followed by a dinner at the church.

Burial will be in the Butler County Memorial Park.
