Barbara June Perkins
Barbara June Perkins, 85, of Butler, passed away at 9:10 p.m. Friday at the Kittanning Care Center in Kittanning.
She was born Sept. 26, 1927, in Moon Run, to the late Russell H. Curtis and Anna Barbara Leihgaber Curtis.
Mrs. Perkins was a nurses aide for 17 years at Sunnyview Nursing Home. Following her retirement, she worked for the Visiting Nurses Association of Western Pennsylvania as a nurse's aide. She is associated with the Fenelton United Methodist Church and the New Beginnings Free Methodist Church.
Mrs. Perkins enjoyed flower gardening, yard work, visiting with family, traveling and Sunday brunch at Eat 'N Park.
Mrs. Perkins is survived by four daughters, Diria (Dee) Swager and her husband, Allan, of Butler, Barbara J. Barnhart and her husband, Floyd, of Fenelton, Jo Donaldson and her husband, Gerald, of Butler, and Kimberly Hamilton and her husband, Rickie, of Shaler; two sons, Dana Perkins and his wife, Sally, of West Sunbury and Keith Perkins and his wife, Rita, of Kulpmont; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a special niece, Louella McElhaney; a foster brother, Ed Mahood and his wife, Jeannie, of Coco, Fla.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Perkins Jr., whom she married March 22, 1947, and who passed away March 12, 1984; a brother, Bill Curtis; and a sister, Penny Harmer.
PERKINS — Friends of Barbara June Perkins, who died Friday, Nov. 9, 2012, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday at the THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St., Butler. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Matthew Perkins, the deceased's grandson and pastor of the New Beginnings Free Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will take place in the Butler County Memorial Park.The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, 1133 S.
